10 ways to stay cool in the heat

1. If you don't have an air conditioner, but have a fan, try putting a block of ice in front of the fan to have ice cold air circulated through the house. Be sure to put it in a pan so that as it melts, it doesn't create a mess!

2. Place a cold, wet washcloth on the back of your neck.

3. Keep a spray bottle of water in the refrigerator and spritz yourself with it. You can add a few drops of peppermint essential oil to it, but if you do, be sure to close your eyes before using!

4. Take a cool shower.

5. If the nights get cool, open up your windows to let the cool air in, and the hot air out. Be sure to close them in the morning before the temperature starts to rise.

6. Keep your drapes closed on the windows that the sun beats on, to keep the extra heat out.

7. When you go outside, wear light colored clothing, and a hat to keep the sun off your face and neck.

8. Drink plenty of water to avoid becoming dehydrated.

9. Eat smaller meals, and include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables - they also have a high water content.

10. Go to your local lake or river and hang out in the water!

Eat to Live

I've just found a great book by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, titled "Eat to Live". While you WILL lose weight on this plan, you will also gain the benefit of better health!

I've already lost 10 pounds in a little over a week, and never hungry. The key is eating nutritionally dense foods, such as fruits and vegetables. Read more about it by following the link below!

Eat To Live

Enjoy the summer - get outside and play when you can, and stay hydrated!
